Sometimes, Kale was too curious for his own good. In this case it meant that he went looking for information on one "Anton Rand". Tobias had mentioned him several times. Especially in reference to him. Said that they were rather alike.

Reading up on him, Kale did have to admit, that yes, they were eerily alike. Their histories were different. But they both had some similar career choices (except for the whole Jedi Hunter thing, though Kale had the feeling that if he did ever fall, like Trever had, he would probably be good at it).

The information was a bit scarce.

And then he got to the bit of Anton being in love with the Exile. And the Exile apparently maybe returning his feelings.

"Well, shit," he muttered to himself. They were alike.

"He was my friend," he replies vaguely. But he shakes his head lightly and scratches the back of his neck. "I might have been in love with him, yes. But we never admitted it to each other."

And he'd worried that their Force Bond had just confused their feelings for each other, but he'd desperately wanted to deny that possibility.

"Hrmm..." he taps his fingers again against his leg as if trying to think of a proper way to phrase his question. "So... if you haven't... jumped any of your other padawans...why me?"

"As I recall, you jumped me," he murmurs amusedly. More seriously he says, "I don't know. Maybe I knew I would have to leave and didn't want them being heartbroken over me.

"Maybe I actually admitted to myself how I felt about you and it seemed like a logical step."

For a brief moment there's a worried look on Kale's face at the mention of leaving. A very desperate worried look. But he covers it quickly, putting a teasing smile back on his face.

"I only jumped you, because you were being slow about it."

While his stealth may not be maxed out, Tobias's awareness certainly is, and he catches that look. But he won't bring it up right now. He grins.

"Oh, just because you're impatient doesn't mean I'm being slow."

Kale just has some abandonment issues.

"Impatient? Me?" He manages to look completely and utterly shocked. "I think I've been remarkably patient."

Tobias will bring them up anyway. If he can help three other people through their anger management issues, surely he can deal with abandonment.

"Oh do you now?" He asks, reaching over to ruffle his hair. "And why's that?"

Tobias: Psychologist, Jedi Master, and Sex Partner. Everything you need in one man.

"I haven't mentioned my brother in over a week."

Except mechanic. That's a definite no-go.

He sits down in Kale's lap. What? His leg hurts. "True. And I'm very glad. Rescue operations don't happen overnight, and until Revan gets going I wouldn't risk trying to go after him."

Well, he can't be perfect.

Kale oofs at Tobias on his lap. After all the other man is larger and heavier than him. But then he rests his head on his back.

"No, it would only get me killed."

He doesn't know where else to sit. Besides, Kale is comfy. He rumbles quietly.

"And I'd never forgive myself if that happened."

There is always the couch.

"Mmm... I'm sure you'd get over it."

This is true.

"It's been ten years and I haven't gotten over the people that died in the war."

Kale wraps his arms around Tobias' waist.

"Must hurt, holding onto them like that."

He shrugs a little.

"I'm used to it. I wanted it. The pain; better that than the emptiness."

Rubbing his head against the other's back, he said,"Mm... I hope I'm a bit better than the emptiness."

He purrs quietly. "Mm-hmm. A lot better. A whole lot better."

And there's a squeeze. "Good."

Which gets a much more interesting noise out of him. "You were worried you weren't?"

"Mmm..." And there's a nervous shift at the question. But he doesn't answer it.

He turns so he's facing Kale. "Kale. You know you mean a lot to me, and I care deeply for you." He can't bring himself to say the dreaded L-word. "And I know you worry about this, so I want you know that I'm not leaving you until you tell me to frack off."

Kale ducks his head, so he's not looking at Tobias. He would probably freak if Tobias used the 'L' word. "What makes you think I'm worried about that?"

"The look you had when I mentioned that I'd had to leave my other apprentices. The way you touch me sometimes. You might think I don't notice but I do."

Still not looking at him he shrugged. "It doesn't mean anything."

He brings a couple fingers under his chin to make him look at him. "Who are you trying to convince: me, or yourself?"
