Sometimes, Kale was too curious for his own good. In this case it meant that he went looking for information on one "Anton Rand". Tobias had mentioned him several times. Especially in reference to him. Said that they were rather alike.

Reading up on him, Kale did have to admit, that yes, they were eerily alike. Their histories were different. But they both had some similar career choices (except for the whole Jedi Hunter thing, though Kale had the feeling that if he did ever fall, like Trever had, he would probably be good at it).

The information was a bit scarce.

And then he got to the bit of Anton being in love with the Exile. And the Exile apparently maybe returning his feelings.

"Well, shit," he muttered to himself. They were alike.

Kale ducks his head, so he's not looking at Tobias. He would probably freak if Tobias used the 'L' word. "What makes you think I'm worried about that?"

"The look you had when I mentioned that I'd had to leave my other apprentices. The way you touch me sometimes. You might think I don't notice but I do."

Still not looking at him he shrugged. "It doesn't mean anything."

He brings a couple fingers under his chin to make him look at him. "Who are you trying to convince: me, or yourself?"

"You. Of course." He looks at Tobias' face, but not into his eyes.

He frowns and slowly gets to his feet, leg aching in protest. "You're lying."

And he makes a face of irritation. "What makes you say that?"

"You didn't look me in the eyes when you said that."

All right then. He looks Tobias in the eyes. "I'm fine," he says flatly.

He makes a bit of a :\ face and bites back a remark about how much Kale just sounded like Atton. "If you say so..."

"I do." His face is very sour and upset. He doesn't like the line of this conversation at all.

He can't stop himself this time; the response is practically automatic. "Fine, fine. Subject dropped, Atton."

The look on Kale's face is very complicated for a moment before turning cold. "Atton?"

Oh, frack. "Kale. I meant Kale," he corrects.

Too late! The damage has been done! The cold look doesn't go away. "I'm not Atton. And I'm not his replacement either!"

He frowns. "I know! I wouldn't try to use you as a replacement for him anyway! But it's damn hard not to use his name when he comes out of your mouth!"

"He's not coming out of my mouth! I'm coming out of my mouth!"

"Well you sound a kriffing lot like him then!" He straightens indignantly. "If you want to know the truth, the absolute truth, I don't know how I felt about him. And I don't know how I feel towards you."

"Well, wonderful! Good. Fantastic!"

"Udesii!" he snaps in that commanding tone he only very infrequently uses. "Enjoy the rest of your afternoon with the computer terminal, Mister Delvar; I'm leaving." He turns to go.

And Kale tosses the mouse at Tobias' head. Just in anger. Not using the force or anything. Just in fury.

Tobias ducks and snatches the thing out of the air, setting it down as he goes. "You can come looking for me when you've cooled down, if I don't decide that the Sith Lords in my own galaxy are more agreeable company."

Kale snorts and turns around to face the computer screen.

Tobias mutters something in ancient Sith and is gone. If Kale ever goes looking for him, he'll find him meditating on top of his ship's cockpit, about a mile and a half from Revan's place.

He does not go looking for Tobias. He's too stubborn to do that. Instead he goes and does some target practice with his blaster pistol. Fortunately he doesn't imagine that it's Tobias' head.
