Discovering Star Wars

Kale has discovered the Star Wars movies. It's amazing what you learn about while talking to people in the Nexus. In good order he found copies of the movies (original release for the last three episodes) as well as other related Star Wars media, like the Knights of the Old Republic video games and Expanded Universe books. But it was the movies he wanted to deal with first. It took him a few minutes to figure out the DVD players. There were multiple ones.

After a bit of experimentation and a quick run to the kitchen for snacks, he settled down to watch Episode one: The Phantom Menace.

About half way through, he started to laugh hysterically.

Kale is busy laughing. It's easier than being disturbed.

Well, Tobias is more the serious sort and all. Being disturbed is easier for him.

"We could play the games after I'm done with the vids," Kale suggests. His face is to the screen so it's hard to see if he's smiling or not.

"That'd work." Tobias looks back to the screen and wonders if Revan knew about it. And decides he probably did.

Kale leans against him, watching the movie. "My father mentioned Qui-gon once."

Tobias puts his arm around him. "Oh? What'd he have to say about him?"

"Bloody stupid idiot, I believe. And something about the Chosen one or something," he says with a shrug, scooting up closer.

Snuggling during movies is acceptable. "Chosen One?" And here he thought that'd been Revan...

Even if it wasn't acceptable, there would be snuggling. Kale likes being in contact with Tobias.

"Something about bringing balance to the Force or... Jedi legend or ... something."

Which is adorable and rather sweet. Tobias has rather missed physical contact...

"It's an old legend. The Sith have a similar one. Only I always figured it was Rev'ika who was the Chosen One and Sith'ari."

Physical contact is a good thing for Kale. He and Trever were always very contacty.

"Huh. He must not have been... or Qui-Gon was wrong."

Tobias has never been too touchy for the most part. But he might be concerned if he thought he was a replacement for Trever.

"Or Qui-Gon and I are both right."

And perhaps a little creeped out. But it's probable that he doesn't realize that's what he's doing or he's not doing it at all.

"How can that be?"

Would be just a tad disturbed, yes. But he doesn't know so right now he's just going to enjoy the snuggling.

"The Force is always trying to keep itself in balance. And sometimes, maybe it gets so out-of-balance that it just needs someone to correct it. A champion. A 'Chosen One'."

Snuggling and almost on the lap there.

"So, there isn't 'A' Chosen one, but instead it's more like a title or role created when needed?"

Well, that's interesting.

"Maybe. Or maybe I'm just talking out my arse; there are so many theories on the Force that you could never know for sure."

Isn't it? But cuddly too.

"It sounds intelligent, so I won't tell anyone."

Yes, very cuddly.

"Heh. Thanks."

Kale frowns, staring at the screen. "Jar Jar Binks... Jar Jar Binks. Where have I heard that name before?"

"Don't know. Maybe he's an important figure in your time?" Though looking at the Gungan it wouldn't seem like it.

"I feel like I should know him..." No, it doesn't look like he would be important. They're going to be sorely disappointed

"Maybe we'll figure out why later?" he offers, rubbing Kale's shoulder a little. "We still have several vids to go through."

"I hope so. Or else this is going to be bothering me until I figure it out." The shoulder rubbing gets a soft pleased sigh.

He chuckles softly. "I get the feeling we're going to be seeing quite a bit of him, so they'll probably explain it."

"He looks like comic relief. Perhaps that's what he's therefor." That still doesn't negate that nagging feeling.
